As if emerging from her heavenly abode, goddess Ganga in this watercolor painting exudes dynamism and beauty, in a unique aesthetic tone that derives from traditional Indian artistic marvelous while giving hints of the personal vision of the artist. Using pleasing watercolor tones, the background of the painting is given a mystical appearance, against which the poised and graceful river goddess looks ethereal.

Adorned with pearls and gems, Ganga appears to be attired in diaphanous attire made from her gentle waves. Three dwarves or attendants, with a distinctive European appearance, serve the goddess- one holding the Chattra or royal umbrella, another washing the feet of the goddess, and the third reaching her with a conch filled with water to perform her consecration or Abhishekam.

The legendary Makara, a mythical creature and mount of Ganga has been beautifully presented by the artist, with its tail in the hand of the goddess and head dramatically turned towards her as if in adoration.

Emanating youthful allure, so pristine that it purifies the heart of the onlooker, Ganga carries a pot filled with her ambrosial waters and authoritatively gazes forward, as if readying herself to descend on earth, in the tresses of Shiva.
