Supplies for Every Ritual

In both Hinduism and Buddhism, the term puja refers to the act of expressing honor, beholding a deity in worship, and giving devotion. For this reason, elements used in puja should be considered sacred. And so, Exotic India has put together this collection of ritual items, including for puja, to allow everyone an opportunity to express their spirituality.

These items have many uses, as there are many reasons for ritual in human life. One of the most common is to celebrate the arrival and presence of an honorable guest. They may also be performed on special occasions, marking events as important. Weddings, funerals, births, and many more major milestones in life may be treated with a ceremony. Rituals at these times help bring us together and mark major transitions with auspicious signs.

Of course, we do not only need rituals to commemorate our worldly activity. Rituals are often used in the worship of deities. Here, we use ritual to connect to higher states, and we do so using the actions that billions of other humans have used throughout history.

Some will be called to conduct puja every day, even multiple times a day. And at different times we may be called to worship different deities, or carry out our rituals in different ways. At all times, however, we should ensure that the items we use are given the respect that they deserve.

No matter where your ritual practice is today, or where it will go in the future, we are here to supply you. Exotic India’s collection of ritual and puja items span the entire spectrum of your needs. We have finely engraved lamps, thrones, shiva linga sculptures, bells, thali, and many more options. Whatever your ritual needs, we can offer you an item made by master artisans.

What should be placed in front of the main door?

The entrance gate should have a threshold, (wood or marble), and put a rangoli on the floor in front of the main door. The area around the main door should be clean. Avoid keeping a dustbin, broken stools, or chairs near the main gate. Decorate the main entrance with divine symbols like swastikas, ohm, crosses, and even flowers placed right outside the door.

Divine idols and photos of Ganesha, Laxmi, and Hanuman are kept to welcome good luck, wealth, and prosperity. Hang a black horseshoe, place a glass pot filled with flower petals and water, a laughing Buddha statue, a wooden tortoise, Jasmine, Money Plant, and Citrus Tree are some of the best Vastu plants for the entrance.

Where lights should be placed in a bedroom?

The light should hit at eye level, where the artwork hangs. If he uses a pendant or a semi-flush ceiling fixture, it's usually centered in the room, often over the bed. Don’t hang it too low—typically eight to 12 inches from the ceiling.

The center of the bedroom is not always the best place to put a ceiling light. In the bedroom, this is most likely the bed. 'The minimum number of lights in a bedroom is probably two: a ceiling light and a bedside lamp or pendant, but there is no maximum. Hanging of light: The general rule is 1 foot for every 3 inches, meaning that for every foot of room height, the chandelier should be 3 inches.

What items are required for Puja?

Performing Puja is a way of offering our love and devotion to God and therefore, it is carried out in a humble state of mind. Various items are used for this purpose such as a thali (made of copper or silver) fresh flowers, a pot containing fresh water (preferably Gangajal) and a spoon, a bell, an incense holder with an odd number of incense sticks or a ghee lamp with an odd number of wicks, and a clean handkerchief.
