Stories tell that Phiran or Pheran was brought to the Valley of Kashmir by Akbar, who is considered one of the royal fans of the crafts and textiles of Kashmir. This black phiran brings the regal appeal of Aari embroidery- done with a thick needle using woolen threads, on a comfortable fabric of rayon. Starting from the neckline which is decorated with a floral vine, the entire Phiran is covered in vibrant floral motifs made with paiselys, placed inside a Jaal or mesh pattern. On the sleeves and hem of the Phiran, a thin vegetation pattern runs, completing the floral tapestry of Aari.
