Carved on a fragrant camphor wood stele are the icons of 35 Buddhas, also known as the Buddhas of Confession, in serene meditation surrounding Tathagata. In Nepal, these thirty-five Buddhas are revered for their divine benevolence, out of which they vowed to salvage humans. Chanting their names is a powerful method of gaining their benedictions. The camphor wood slab presents the 35 Buddhas on lotus seats and aureoles with the Buddha in the center. The glory of Buddha is underlined by a Chepu (Kirtimukha) arch, supported by Makara figures.
