A conventional musical instrument, this Bronze Manjeera is employed in religious rites. In Southern India, it is also referred to as Jalra. They generate a ringing sound that is somewhat like an electric bell that is shaking, and they are often connected by a cord that is threaded through their centers. Each has a handle at the rear in the form of a silk or wood tassel. The other, which is held loosely in the right, strikes the one that is held in the left palm and is tied by a string wrapped around the right.

The cymbal produces a not unpleasant accompaniment to vocal or instrumental music by striking the cups together in such a way that notes are formed on the outside, inside, and on the edges. By striking the cups together in a manner that produces notes that correspond to the voice or any other instruments that may be used to accompany it, the cymbal creates a not unpleasant accompaniment to vocal or instrumental music. This cymbal accompaniment is played with greater precision than may be expected given the instrument's design.
