This Silver Tikadani is one of the most important ritual objects of Nepalese culture. This ritual object holds great significance in the commencement of the Dasain festival in Nepal. It is made of pure silver and is comprised of three compartments to carry vermillion, curd, and red-painted rice. In some cases, turmeric can also be kept in one of the compartments. The long vase in the back is filled with Jamara or Barley sprouts. This is the mandatory arrangement during the festival and the Tika ceremony is used by the elderly to bless the younger people. This Tikadani is beautified with fine carvings on its stand and the compartments are deep enough to carry material to sustain the Tika ritual for a big family.
