Guru Gampopa, originally from the Kagyu school of Tibetan Buddhism, was born in central Tibet. He was a key figure in the transmission of the Kagyu lineage and played a pivotal role in the development of the Karma Kagyu tradition. Gampopa, also known as Dakpo Lharje, was initially a physician and later became a disciple of the renowned Tibetan yogi Milarepa. Under Milarepa's guidance, he attained enlightenment. Gampopa combined the teachings of the Kagyu lineage with those of the Kadampa tradition, creating a synthesis known as the "Four Dharmas of Gampopa."
Gampopa's influence spread throughout the Himalayan region, impacting the development of Tibetan Buddhism. His teachings emphasize the integration of meditation and daily life, providing profound insights into the nature of the mind and the path to enlightenment.
