This brass Shodash Upchara lamp is also known as a Nakshatradipa due to the presence of the sun's face as the central picture on the lamp. These lamps have an unusual architecture as the oil basin is missing and the arch has five openings to accommodate the elongated cotton wicks soaked in oil or ghee. During the second half of the typical sixteen-step Shodash Upchara, these bulbs are rotated clockwise. This light's handle and stand are similar to that of a standard lamp. It is frequently referred to as a Kakada aarti lamp since it is used during the early morning rituals presented to the gods.
