Mayil Vilakku, or peacock lamps, are portable lamps with an image of the mythical peacock Annam on top. If the lamp's stem is elongated, it can also be considered Nila Vilakku. This metal lamp with five wicks, a small yet ornamented stand, and a picture of Annam on top is a lovely display of auspiciousness with simplicity. The lamp's wicks are sharp and are generally thought to illuminate five directions with their light.
