“Narayani”- the Shakti of Narayana Vishnu, the source of his potency is goddess Lakshmi. She is the most powerful divinity, revered in Lakshmi Tantra. The embodiment of Rajas guna- the quality of activity, passion, desire and constructiveness, goddess Lakshmi is the queen mother, whose benevolence is the virtuous fruits of all actions.
In this magnificent Panchaloha bronze statue, which measures over three feet, Devi Lakshmi is envisioned as a divine mother, enthroned on a splendidly sculpted lotus. With her one leg dangling in Lalitasana, goddess Lakshmi is ornamented majestically- with a fine dhoti, delicate jewellery, and a Kiritamukuta crown with peacock motifs adorning its centre. The goddess holds two lotuses in her secondary hands, which symbolise purity and origin of Universe, and has her primary hands in the gesture of giving boon and removing fears.
In this awe-inspiring statue, the balance and posturing of goddess Lakshmi’s lithesome form is done with immense precision. From the suppleness of her body to the fleshiness of her fingers, an animation is felt in the depiction. The most enchanting part of the sculpture is the face of the goddess, enlivened by her gentle smile, lotus eyes, and radiating an aura that fills the murti and the ambiance with the auspicious quality of Lakshmi.
