Padmashree (Late) Dr. Dinkar Gangadhar Kelkar mentions Agni as an everlasting mediator (data) between man and the gods in his book Lamps of India. He delivers the yajna offerings to them and maintains a home life. There are several devout petitions to Agni in Vedic literature. The lamp has traditionally been considered auspicious as the emblem of Surya and Agni. A lamp is said to be the conduit via which the Agni may communicate with the Almighty. This brass lamp, with its intricate peacock pattern on top, is a royal representation of the Duta.
This lamp, which has a stand with intricately carved jaalis and Kalash in between portions, is an excellent addition to any personal worship place or temple during festivals. Lighting this lamp will not only improve the aesthetics of the area but will also allow worshippers to receive Agni's blessings through the burning wicks.
