Sri Varah, Vishnu's incarnation as a boar who carried the goddess Earth from the depths of the ocean, to reinstate balance in the cosmos, is revered in Hinduism as the supreme king, embodying the virtues of a sovereign, protecting and nurturing the earth. His wife, goddess Lakshmi is the abode of earthly and spiritual piousness and wealth.
Together, the great god and goddess are worshipped as the pinnacle of worldly and metaphysical achievements. In this small copper statue, Lakshmi-Varaha stands on a pedestal they share, with Sri Varaha standing on the hood of Adi Shesha and Devi Lakshmi placed on her Kamalasana (lotus seat).
