Eight-armed or Ashtabhuja is a form used in traditional Hindu iconography to symbolise the divine powers of the deity, a trope used in this small brass statue for goddess Varahi, the mighty warrior goddess and commander of Devi Durga’s army. Maa Varahi sits in a regal posture, on an exquisite throne, holding her weapons around her like a powerful halo, while holding her main hands in the gesture of giving boons and removing fear.
