This granite statue depicts the almighty commander-in-chief, of Devaraja Indra’s army- Murugan, or Karttikeya as a benevolent, youthful divine god.
Murugan stands with one hand on his waist and the other up in Abhaya, the gesture of fearlessness, wearing the tripunda, crown, jewelry, and short dhoti with heavily tasseled waistband.
The stance of Murugan's mount, the Mayura, reflects the wrath and power of his Lord. As a symbol of the fierceness of Murugan, a god created to destroy demons and bring order to the universe, the mesmerizing bird ensnares serpents, its deadly adversaries, in its beak and claws, adding a rich contrast to the blissful aura of Kumara Kartikeya.
