“Vinayaka”- he who is the supreme Nayaka or leader, of Shiva Ganas, is Sri Ganesha. In this wooden statue, Lord Vinayaka, or Ganesha is on a throne adorned by vegetation, symbolizing the bloom of life and auspiciousness in his reign. Ganesha is adorned marvelously, with his characteristic Karandamukuta or inverted-basket-shaped crown, bejeweled ornaments, and the symbol of “Om” on his trunk. Om and Ganesha for the followers of the elephant-faced deity are manifestations of the same divine principle, Param Brahmana, which is embodied in the ever-auspicious form of Vinayaka.
