These massive brass cymbals are known as Jalra. They are also known as Manjeera, albeit the smaller ones should be. They are proportioned and played to produce a ringing sound similar to a shaking electric bell; they are typically linked by a rope running through their centers. Temples maintain them as an important part of religious processions. These brass cymbals with the ancient Mani mantra "Aum Mani Padme Hum" engraved on their surface are sacred musical instruments containing the alphabets of peace and translation.
