The youthful embodiment of Shiva’s pure wrath in Hindu tradition is known as Bhairva or Batuka Bhairva, accompanied by a dog and adorned with bewildering ornaments such as serpents and a flaming halo that represents his fierce nature.
Bhairva in this granite statue is four-armed or Chaturbhuja, with a Damru (drum), Trishula (trident), Paasha (noose), and khappar or skull cup in his hands.
His towering crown of Jata or tresses, ornaments, and attributes are beautifully highlighted through the fine handiwork of the artist, who has used the lower part of the granite slab to craft an elevated pedestal for the deity.
