He is panchamukhadhari, one possessed of (‘dhari’) five (‘pancha’) faces (‘mukha’), the shape of each of the skulls set off by dreadlocks and the raised hood of a snake. He is dashabhujadhari, one possessed of (‘dhari’) ten (‘dasha’) arms (‘bhuja’), a rare manifestation of Shivaroopa. In fact, the twin aspects of multiple limbs and heads make this a rare murti indeed.
The pure brass make of this work is superimposed with hints of a coppery hue. Coupled with the rugged surface finish, it makes for an aura of sattva and serenity. The Lord’s composure of countenance is an expression of the same. It is complemented by the implements in His carefully sculpted hands and the indistinguishable coils of hair and serpent that add to the solemn grace of His roopa (form).
