Krishna in his dialogue with Arjuna, which has been compiled in the Bhagwadgita proclaims that among the snakes, he is Ananta. Ananta or Anantasheasha represents infinity, the primordial forces that rest within us all, and the wakening of which is known as Kundalini Jagran (the awakening of the Kundalini forces).
Placed on a lotus-shaped platform, in the striking triple bent or Tribhanga posture, Krishna plays his flute, while the Ananta, a symbol of his potencies is wrapped around his body like a very long and flowing Uttariya (upper body garment). This attractive brass idol holds layers of meaning, it is the perfect example of how Hindu religious iconography hides as well as reveals the wisdom of scriptures.
Snakes denote time, desire, death, and destruction all at once. Lord Krishna creates enchanting tunes on his flute while such a gloomy creature looms over him. Through this brass Krishna murti, the artist gave form to the divine persona of the dark-skinned lord. He is infinite, not bound by the rules of time, not affected by bodily desires, and fearless before the inevitability that is death.
