The Muram or sieve is a traditional household object for cleaning and husking grains. The Muram is also used as a tray to keep and place the ritual objects before the deities. This brass Muram blessed with the Ashtalaksmi (eight forms of Goddess Lakshmi) symbols is specifically constructed to assist the rituals related to the invocation of the Goddess of wealth and prosperity, Devi Lakshmi.
