Sculpted as a traditional altarpiece, this bronze statue of Vishnu with Sridevi and Bhudevi is a deception of the gods and goddesses based on Hindu iconographic texts.
Crafted for devotional rituals, the icons of Vishnu and his wives can be removed along with the ornate Kirtimukha prabhavali.
Stylistic perfection is visible in the graceful delineation of Sridevi (on Vishnu’s right) and Bhudevi (on his left), distinguished by the Kuchabandha or breastband worn by Sridevi and the flowers they hold (the lotus bud of Sridevi and bloomed lotus of Bhudevi).
Accompanied by the divinity of heaven (Sridevi) and earth (Bhudevi), Vishnu assumes the attitude of a king, adorned from head-to-toe, with his right hand in Varada mudra and left hand placed on his waist elegantly. The icons are adorned with details on the reverse, allowing the devotee to perform Puja and witness the aura of the deities in a personal, intimate manner.
