A highly venerated figure in Tibetan Buddhism and many other Buddhist traditions, White Tara is also known as Sita Tara. She is revered as a bodhisattva, a symbol of enlightened compassion, and is connected to protection, healing, and long life. A lotus flower is held in White Tara's left hand as she is portrayed sitting in a contemplative pose with her right hand outstretched in the varada mudra, a sign of giving. Her attentive awareness and compassion are symbolised by the seven eyes on her face, palms, and soles of her feet, which enable her to perceive and respond to the suffering of beings in all directions.
White Tara is consulted by devotees seeking blessings in the areas of compassion, longevity, and health. Reciting mantras and prayers in her honour is part of her practice, which asks for her compassionate intervention at difficult emotional or physical moments.
White Tara's mantra is "Om Tare Tuttare Ture Mama Ayur Pune Gyana Puntim Kuru Soha." Devotees of White Tara hold the belief that by practicing and being really devoted to her, they can call upon her healing and protective energies, as well as overcome challenges encountered on their spiritual path.
