One of Lord Vishnu’s Dashavatars - Hayagriva is believed to be the form obtained by Narayana to restore the stolen Vedas from Madhu and Kaitbaha, the notorious asuras. This Brass idol of Hayagriva stands in the Samabhanga stance on a high pedestal and is depicted playing Pakahwaj/Thavil as a Vadaka. The expressions on his face are perplexing in depicting him to be both ferocious yet benevolent, and the tongue stuck outcomes from the element of Agni.
