A Shringi in Gaumukhi Abhishek Pot is a ceremonial instrument made of pure brass metal that resembles a horn and features a Nandi Face (Lord Shiva Vahana) on the bottom or at the end of the smaller side of the horn. It is historically used during Lord Rudra's Abhishekam or bathing.
Gaumukhi means "cow's mouth" and refers to the glacier of the same name in the Himalayas, which is the source of the Ganges. The ceremonial item is significant because it symbolically reflects the pouring of Ganga water from the sacred place of Gaumukh. This brass Shringi has been used in Abhishekam rites since immemorial and is revered.
