A celebration goes on in the grounds of the Udaipur Fort. The King has returned victorious from battle and the royal residents are giving him a warm, joyous welcome. The scene is replete with good cheer - there is music and dance and life and revelry and, of course, the queen who looks upon her lord from the top of the tower with eagerness and gratitude in her heart.
The body of the fort is predominated by pale-coloured stones. High doors in deep, densely coloured wood. Long windows that afford a view of the plush velvets in green and blue and purple inside. Despite a limited, basic colour palette, the clothing of the revelling bodies in the foreground add a consistent hum of colour to the painting.
Each aspect of this composition has been executed in perfect detail, from the towers and turrets of the Udaipur Fort to the multitude of revelling figures of men and women. The scene takes place under a warm sunset, which could be deduced from the gradient of the sky in the background. A row of rosebushes against the gradient add to the detail prevalent in the artwork.
