The Linga in Hinduism is a symbol of Shiva or the ultimate male element (Purusha) and an inverted triangle is a universal symbol of the female, known as Prakriti in Indian culture. Uniting both these potent motifs in one, Anup Gomay recreates the powerful moment of creation in which Purusha-Prakriti become one. The three lines (Tirpunda) are an attribute of Shiva and the flames emerging from the center of the Linga are the purest form of Shakti or energy, on which the entire creation sustains.
