Depicting an episode from the Ramayan, the artist has used the linear and chromatic elements to their best use. Ram and Ravana, the king of Lanka were engaged in a conflict as the latter had abducted Rama's wife Sita. Rama's army of monkeys and boars, under Hanuman's supervision, decided to build a bridge from the mainland to the island. A monumental task completed not only by the brigade's effort but their devotion towards Rama. In this painting, each one carries a boulder with Rama's name inscribed on it. Rama and Lakshman are shown standing in a corner, over awed by their army's effort and enthusiasm.
Strong line seems to be the artists forte; the colours within are juxtaposed well, though, chromatically, they are sharply conflicting. The fury of the sea is shown in black while the rest of the background is in sobre beige.
