A nondescript brass pot. Dark, molten gold hue achieved with skilfully layered strokes of the brush dipped in a dense gradient of colour. Nondescript because this is exactly the kind of ‘ghara’ found in abundance in Indian homes, used for the purpose of storing water for pooja purposes.
Not a very high water level within the ghara. At the base of the ghara is a fresh green lime of substantial proportions and a baby-sized eggplant. Leaves of neem lie curled up due to exposure immediately next to them.
Gathered on the beige-coloured floors of the pooja-kaksha, perhaps they have been placed there by the lady of the house as an offering for ritual worship that is about to take place.
