The above is an introduction to the event that takes place here. Durga, with her multiple arms, glows in the golden complexion, gleaming more in a black attire. The artist clothes her in black to express her anger. She holds attributes of all gods as she attacks Mahisa, who is seen to be emerging from the severed head of the buffalo. For him, the battle seems to have already been lost, with the goddess piercing his chest and her lion gnawing at his leg. The latter has been given human features and a crown, depicting his importance and association with a prime goddess.
If observed separately, the lower half of the canvas depicts violence and blood but the upper half expresses tranquility and benevolence.
