Brimming with the divine presence of Thakurji, the Pichwai here brings to you the festivities of Gopashtami- the occasion when Krishna’s father handed to him the responsibilities of his Gau-Dhana (cattle wealth). Like any other theme of Pichwai’s of Nathdwara, this subject holds within it a personal connection with Krishna, who enlivens the frame in the form of a plump, young boy, attired in lovely pink and covered in various exquisite ornaments. Two Vallabha Sampradaya priests stand in front of the deity, holding a Chanwar (fly whisk) and Aarati, performing Seva of Thakurji. Yellow- the color that symbolizes the sacred fills the canvas, animated by the presence of cows and calves who seem to be filled with joy in the proximity of Gopala.
