Elephant headed Ganesha is the first deity to be worshipped. Whatever form he may assume, the energy of Ganesha, his shakti, is always present, sometime in a subtle form, assimilated to the sound OM. Iconographically, she is shown to the left of the god.

On a terrace, against a thick red and green bolster, Ganesha is seated with his shakti. With his legs folded in, he sits on a cushion of grand lotus petals arranged on a floral carpet. Two of his hands hold an axe and 'ankusha,' the elephant goad. Out of his other two hands, one is devoted to the goddess, and the other is placed on his lap. She offers him a bowl of ladoos. He wears a yellow colored dhoti and green scarf, both outlined with gold. Numerous jewels adorn his entire body. The pointed crown is sumptuous, studded with pearls and precious stones. The eyes are represented as small and oval while his third eye is set obliquely in the forehead.

The goddess is extremely elegant. Her head jewelry, nose ring and earrings frame her soft face. She is draped in a orange skirt and a green odhini covers her head.
