The painting with this title by Ravi Varma showed Draupadi as Sairandhri in “Agyat-vasa” (living anonymously) in the court of Virata Raja. The queen of the kingdom Sudeshna had a brother named Kichaka who was smitten by the beauty of Sairandhri, who was in the service of the queen. This oil painting recreates the plight of Draupadi when she was ordered by Sudeshna to bring wine to the inner chambers of Kichaka. Hiding her face and pain, Draupadi holds a plate with wine and walks reluctantly to her fate.
