Marriages in Rajasthan, besides being sanctimonious, are a reason to celebrate. The two portraits of a bride and a bridegroom are imposing. The lady, with her head bent, is a paragon of shyness. Her eyes look downwards, making an obvious effort not to look up to her handsome groom. She wears the traditional ivory bangles on her upper arms and lac bangles in the forearms. If the ornaments are traditional, the blouse is very elegant and contemporary. Random curls kiss the softness of her flawless face.
The groom on the other side portrays a chivalrous gentleman. He wears a moustache and earrings according to Rajasthani tradition. He wears the modern variation of a long jama. The bridegroom looks his best in a crimson turban. His straight nose and pursed lips reflect his confidence but the gentle look in his eyes reflect his inner warmth.
The artist has achieved the beauty and the inner qualities of the two by the sheer strength of colour and line.
