Shiva and Parvati’s union in Hinduism is perceived as the beginning of all things auspicious. It was with their marriage that Karttikeya’s birth and annihilation of Tarakasura were ensured. This oil painting visually celebrates the togetherness of Shiva-Parvati by combining their respective faces with the countenance of Sri Ganesha- the supreme deity of new beginnings and the manifestation of divine auspiciousness. A Shiva-linga and Shiva’s Trishula present in the painting stand as the symbols of oneness between Shiva and Shakti.
