The aura of bright red color brings auspiciousness to the whole painting and what to speak of Goddess Gajalakshmi who is one among the eight primary manifestations of Mahalakshmi known Ashtalakshmi. She is considered to be the bestower of the power of royalty and prosperity in the lives of her devotees. The way this painting has been beautified with the use of pure gold and sequences of red and green shining stones long the outlines is undoubtedly praiseworthy.
As the name suggests, Goddess Gajalakshmi is flanked by white elephants (Gaja) on her either side lifting their trunk up in the sky so as to glorify the Goddess. She is seated on a throne in Ardhapadmasana; her right leg folded on the throne while the left leg goes downward. Her body complexion is like molten gold and she appears like the glowing sun due to her adornments with several effulgent jewels. Attired in a perfectly pleated red saree with golden borders and shine, she holds a lotus flower in each of her two upper hands while the lower hands are in Abhaya Mudra (gesture of fearlessness) and the boon granting Varada Mudra. A stream of gold coins flowing down from her right hand can also be seen and a pot full of such coins is kept on left thigh. The soft smile on her beautiful face describes her extremely merciful nature toward her devotees.
