High amidst the Himalayan upper range, rises the matchless Everest. Against the rays of the setting sun, its snow-capped peak glitters like a coat of jewels. The same goes for the ridges surrounding Mount Everest, which belong to the middle range and are a natural charcoal colour.
A path has formed amidst these ridges. Along its merciless, rocky bosom marches a yoke of oxen. They are each bearing burden; herded along by a lone Sherpa with a stick in his hand. Note the precision with which the miniscule shadows of the moving objects in this composition have been painted by the artist.
The focus, however, lies in the painting of rock on canvas. Layered brushstrokes, coupled with the use of complementary colours, create the illusion of all three dimensions. Skilfully executed gradient of the skies; and a thick, colloidal mist pervading base of the ridges.
