The glamour of Mount Everest, captured in oil on canvas. Expansive rock body coated with snow so white that it reflects the inimitable blue of the Himalayan skies. The sky along the upper edge forms a fifth of the canvas and is made with layered strokes of the brush dipped in azure and rose.
This roseate shade is reflected in the crevices of the mountains below. Beneath them is a valley clouded with mist. On either side in the foreground is a ridge of the middle Himalayan range. Monotone charcoal colour, indicative of the harshness and the lifelessness prevailing in this range.
A lone Sherpa climbs uphill with his two yaks. The beasts are reloaded with burden. They are heading towards a stoopa in the distance. From the zenith of the stoopa emerge colourful om-mani-padme-hm streamers, which are ubiquitous in the region.
