The supreme god and goddess- Shiva and Parvati are presented in this watercolor on paper, in their powerful forms as the protector and protectress of the Srishti (Creation). Shiva in his four-armed Roopa carries the Ankusha (goad), Danda (rod), Mala (rosary), and a head, adorned with the crescent moon, serpents, and Chandan or sandalwood paste marks on his body. The great goddess takes a majestic eighteen-armed form of Durga, the warring aspect of Parvati, sitting on a thousand-petalled lotus, with a Chattra or royal umbrella on her head. Both Mahadeva and Mahadeva are ornamented with bejweled ornaments and matching pink garments. They sit on a golden throne studded with gems, which is guarded by their mounts- the bull and tiger.
A rich floral embellishment beautifies the border of this painting, along with two parallel lines of red and blue, symbolizing Shakti and Shiva outlining the powerful image.
