The elephant-headed Lord Ganesha is the god that is the subject of worship and devotion at the beginning of something new and auspicious. While there are various accounts that debate and discuss his marital status, there is one story that talks about how even he had trouble finding a bride.
While some belief him to be a bachelor, others consider him married to Riddhi and Siddhi. However, that did not come to happen easily. Wanting to experience marital bliss, Lord Ganesha had been confused when he hadn’t been able to. He created a lot of trouble for the other gods and even his own brother Kartikeya. It was Lord Brahma who relieved him of this crisis and brought Riddhi and Siddhi to him, saying that he could get married to them. Riddhi and Siddhi represent wealth and prosperity, and intellect and spiritual powers respectively. This painting celebrates the union of Ganesha with his wives, while his attendants and followers look upon them in affection. The sky is clear and full of fluffy white clouds, a brilliant day to commemorate this moment. The abundance of gold ornaments and yellow garbs only add to the good fortune of this day that brings promises of a happy life.
