An abstract Ganesha composition. Perfect for the drawing room walls of the modern-loving yet traditional Indian home. A luxuriant, bitone colour palette of black and gold. Against a backdrop of jet black, lines and curves filled in with solid gold colour that create the unmistakable image of the son of Shiva.
The surface area of the canvas is roughly divided into three vertical panels. At the centre is the shut-eyed mukhamandala of the elephant deity. The Shaivite tilaka on His brow. The handsome curve of the eyelid and the curved end of His trunk - at the end of which is, of coruse, a glimmering modaka - carry forward into the panel next to it.
In the opposite panel is the inscription Shree in Devanagari, the Sanskrt script. A sacred syllable in golden lettering, it is set off by a black splotch of the brush.
