The rectangular panel is horizontally divided into two. The artist uses a flowing river to scenically divide the pictoral space. The division does not divide the scene of action or events; other than aesthetical, it solves no other purpose. Tame and meek deers are closely painted with the fierce tigers and leopards and manage to look harmonious. The massive elephants seem in a playful mood. Them being caparisoned does not go well with the jungle environment but the painting would have looked incomplete. A monkey, a rabbit, a squirrel climbing the palm tree, a peacock gracefully perched on the tree top may not be conspicuously painted but they are important to the jungle scene.
Not only the beasts, but varied vegetation finds prominence in this painting. Realistic and stylized trees exist harmoniously, visually not clashing at all.
