“Kuan-Yin”- she who can hear the voices (of souls in pain), is the Chinese transformation of Avalokiteshwara who is the embodiment of compassion. The goddess in this oil painting sits on a bloomed lotus and is dressed in attire that is half-red and half-white. An abundance of brilliance surrounds Kuan Yin, who has a willow leaf and a jar of water in her hands. Followers of the Bodhisattva believe that her benevolence eases the path to supreme wisdom or Enlightenment.
