A round-shaped Tanjore painting. Executed on solid, superior-quality wood with traditional colours and pure gold embellishment. It is a Ganesha-Ashtalakshmi Tanjore painting, which is a composite of multiple Tanjore paintings of miniature proportions. A circular panel depicting Ganesha in the centre; surrounded by eight circular panels, each depicting a Lakshmi-roopa.
Each Ganesha and Ashtalakshmi panel has been executed with rich detail. For example, a garland of fresh flowers graces each seated figure. The Ashtalakshmi panels feature crimson-coloured backgrounds. Each Devi is seated in a rudimentary sukhasana. Ganesha, on the other hand, is in lalitasana.
Besides the gold embellishment on the divine figures, each of the panels are framed in a rim of gold studded thickly with miniscule red stones that resemble rubies. The panels are distinguished by complex patterns done in metallic gessowork that add to the overall beauty of the composition.
