It is the middle of the afternoon. The sun is too high up in the sky to be visible within the frames of this composition, and pale clouds are scattered beyond the luscious pink hills in the background. The musician sisters have chosen a cool spot under a tree by the river, afore which stood a wide stump. Surrounded by the wet and verdure of the location, their bare feet rubbing against the moist riverbank earth, they begin to play on their respective instruments.
Given the ample pearls that each sister has donned in her shringar, these ladies seem to be of respectable musical pedigree. Each of the sisters has the same olive skin and long black hair that she wears loose down her back. They are dressed in the same gold-bordered saree of a pale purple colour, their almost naked torso and arms revealed through the sheer fabric.
