A woman of intense beauty stares out of the door waiting for her loved one. The exquisiteness lies not in her attire or jewelry; the beauty lies in her smiling lips- a smile in anticipation of her encounter with him, a smile that lightens up her entire face; the allure lies in the love radiating in her eyes as she looks out for him.
She wears the symbols of a married woman- a red dot in the center of her forehead, the parting in her hair colored with vermilion and a string of black beads to avoid the evil eye on her husband. She wears ornaments befitting a married woman, her long tresses are neither pulled back, nor fall on her face; they lie softly on her shoulder, not disturbing the faultless features. The night has fallen, she has lit the lamp placed on a niche but the wait is long.
The artist has used various tones of brown for the background. Juxtaposed with that, the body hue delicately blends with the background with hints of red and pink appearing sporadically. The turquoise of her blouse stands out inharmoniously- rust or brick red would have added to the overall impact of the painting.
