Guru Nanak and his two followers, Bala and Mardana who were traveling extensively, halted their journey in one village where they faced a wealthy and inhospitable man, who refused to offer them hospitality. Nanak sahib, however, with his powers was able to extract water and other requirements on his own, which enraged the rich man to no end.
As revenge, he pushed a massive boulder toward Guru Nanak, who sat unmoved in meditation and gently touched the large stone, halting it suddenly. This legend is a celebration of the powers of the first guru, as a memorial to which Gurudwara Punja Sahib, with the print of the guru’s hand, exists in present-day Pakistan.
