The painting that you see here shows the all-attractive Lord Krishna in His childhood form. The uncommon childish activities of Krishna astonished everyone and they developed endless love toward Him. Seeing His beautiful bodily features, even the animals of Vrindavan used to get caught up in the highest state of ecstasy.
The famous South Indian Tanjore or Thanjavur paintings are known for their iconic descriptions in a magical way and Lord Krishna’s paintings in Tanjore style are loved the most. Krishna is also called Makhanchor because He was extremely fond of stealing and eating butter from the houses of gopis and on getting caught, He used to make a sweet pitiable face, and then the gopis would let Him eat as much as He wanted. Adorned with several gold ornaments on His transcendental body, Makhanchor Krishna is seated on a swing holding a big pot of butter around His left arm, which has undoubtedly been stolen by Him. He takes out a butterball from the pot and is ready to put into the mouth right away.
The gentle smile on His moonlike face shows how much He enjoys eating butter. As you can see, major part of this artwork; from the beautiful Prabhavali to the swing and Krishna’s ornaments have been perfectly embellished with 24 Karat Gold. This fine finishing and the use of vivid colors are the main characteristic features of Tanjore paintings which have been perfectly shown here.
