Pahari paintings are related to life, to human feelings and to the environment, and acquired deserved significance. The painters paid as much attention to colour and form as to the composition.

This miniature, though compartmentalized, is interrelated. Each figure is, in some way – either by gaze, movement or activity, connected to each other. The woman in the foreground is grinding some herbs, which constitutes the drink the man is being served. There is an expression of joy on all three women faces. They are finely attired and bejeweled. The man richly dressed and of fine manners, seems hesitant accepting what the woman offers. Horizontally divided, the lower half consists of human figures; asymmetrical architecture takes up the left vertical space and the rest of the pictorial space is occupied by the beauty of nature. The domes, terraces and parapets acknowledge the fine taste in buildings; the distant scene also shows architecture with a variety of rooftops. If there is calmness in the landscape, the sky seems furious, with dark menacing clouds.

All possible colours can be seen in this painting, painted in such a way that they compliment each other.
