Among the many names of Sri Hari Vishnu is “Maadhava”- born from nectar. Commonly used to address Sri Krishna and his majestic beauty, Maadhava, and Madhupati signify the sweetness that one derives from the proximity of Vishnu, which is similar to the nectar bees extract from fragrant flowers.
Envisioning this idea, the oil painting has Sri Vishnu standing on a blossomed lotus, in his Chaturbhuja roopa. Two bumblebees hover on his sides, seeking the chance to collect some of the sweetness from the nectar that pervades the scene.
