Adorned in a gorgeous maroon saree that flows downwards with perfect pleats and gold border, the golden and whitish complexioned Shri Yashoda Maiya has lifted up blue baby Krishna in her hands very softly. She is also looking very happy and why not, she has got a chance to be the mother of the unborn, the Lord of all the Universes. Although many times Krishna has done divine lilas in Braj which are unmatched but even after that she does not want to treat her son like a God and that’s the sweetness of the Vatsalya Bhava of a devotee.
Here Shri Krishna wears a pitambara (yellow garments) in measured pleats over his transcendental form while holding the wooden flute in his right hand which he plays to mesmerize the residents of Gokul and Barsana. A golden crown with peacock feather (mor mukut) is placed on his cute little head which is also comprised of elegant black hairs. As a symbol of royality and shringar both the mother and son are decorated with a good amount of pearls and jewels all over. This painting reveals a gloried soulfulness even in a dark background, portraying krishna’s mere presence as a source of light and happiness in all aspects and environments with the bright haloed sun shining bright.
